The annual Berlin Youth Soccer meeting is open to all Berlin residents or parents with children attending Berlin schools for the purpose of electing or re-electing association officers.

Very few registrations have been submitted as the deadline is Dec 1st.
U6 - 6 players

Sean Regan would like to coach the U12 team if needed and this was confirmed.

The 6v6 field behind the school will be used on Saturdays by the U10 boys and girls.
David Yildiz will request permission from the BMS school to use the field for the season.

Tony raised the issue of his need to step down from the President's position and nominated David Yildiz. The nomination was seconded and a vote was taking to confirm David as President.

Berlin Youth Soccer U6, U7 and U8 Meeting Minutes 3/25/08

U6 Boys and Girls - There are 12 signed up for the U6 team with many more who will give it a try the first practice and sign up later depending on the child's enthusiasm. Christy West will be the coach. Practices will be on Wednesdays at 3:10pm on the BMS field. Week to start TBD as it is weather dependent.

U7 Boys and Girls - There are 7 children signed up. David Yildiz will be the coach. Please contact David if you are interested in being an assistant coach(dyildiz@alcatel-lucent.com). The games are 4 vs 4 with no goalie.

U8 Boys and Girls - There are 10 children signed up. We will have one team with Tim Guilfoyle the coach. Chris West will assist and more are needed. Please contact Tim(tguifoy@pharmacare.com). They will play 5 v 5 including a goalie.

Coaches - Sue Green will e-mail you the rosters. Coordinate picking up uniforms and equipment with Evy Dueck(EvyDueck@charter.net or 838-2738)

Practices - Fields will be open for practice around April 7, but this is weather dependent. Tuesday, Thursday and Friday are available for U10, U12 and U14 practices. Monday and Wednesday Puma will be using the fields. The Nashoba League starts April 12th. The season is 9 weeks. This is usually also true for U6, U7 and U8.

Games - U6 games will always be on the BMS field at 9 am on Saturdays unless notified by the coach. They scrimmage each other. U7 and U8 games will be at 12pm or 4pm with no game on May 3rd. We will play against Boylston. Boylston's game coordinator is Ann Consiglio. Tim Guilfoil will be the Berlin game coordinator. Hopefully half of the games will be at home. If there is an odd game it will be in Berlin.

Referees - Referees will be coordinated by Becki Blanton. Coaches please contact her if you have any conflicts (becki.blanton@gmail.com or 838-2109). Weather cancellations should be decided at least an hour before the game. The referees for the U7 and U8 games will be Emily Anderson, Haden Smith, and Emily Porter

Cookout - We need a coordinator for the end of season Soccer/Baseball Awards Picinic. We have copy of the master plan. It just needs to be implemented. Please contact Christy West at cswest@charter.net or 838-2324

U10 Boys
We have only 12 boys signed up. They will be playing in the Nashoba League @ 10:15 am 6 vs. 6 with a goalie in the field behind BMS. Sean Regan, Sean Mannion, and Scott Lutz all volunteered to coach the Spring
2008 season. If we could not get more than 12, we would field one U10 team instead of two. Rosters had to be sumitted by Saturday, January 18 2008. We ended up with one team.

High School Girls
This spring the Nashoba League is offering a high school flight girls team of various ages 11 vs. 11

U12 Girls
We have 12 girls signed up for a 8 vs. 8 format. Evy Dueck will be the head coach with Erin Mannion and Cathy Porter assisting.

U12 Boys
12 players are signed up. The team has been moved up to M Cup 8 vs. 8.
Scott Parmenter is coaching.

U14 Girls
12 players signed up. 11 vs. 11 format. Denise Monteiro is coaching with Pat Anderson assisting.

U16 Girls
16 players signed up. 11 vs. 11 format. Judy Sykes is coaching with Chad Burrows assisting.

U6, U7, and U8 teams will be addressed at a separate meeting.

Our challenge as an organization is to answer the question, "Do we organize our league based on skill levels versus a combined abilities?"
The majority felt the objective of Berlin Youth Soccer is for all children regardless of ability, to improve their soccer skills and have fun. WE want our kids to develop a sense of comeraderie and good sportsmanship as well as touching the ball as much as possible. The Puma League offers children the chance to enter a more competitive environment if so desired.

Berlin Youth Soccer Meeting Minutes 5/15/07

Registration: Sue will get registration forms for Fall soccer to hand out to the teams through the coaches. Possibility of a U14 Fall team?? To be determined.

Awards/Medals: Trophies for U6-U12 and nylon back packs for U14 and U16 girls.

Cookout: Soccer will need volunteers to pick up and set up tables 1 hour before the cookout. Date is still being determined. Baseball will take care of the rest.

Equipment: We bought a paint machine and some paint. We are looking for volunteers to cut up broken goals and take them to the dump. There is a possibility we may need to buy new 8v8 goals next year, Puma may split the cost.

Cleat Swap: Thank you to Christy West for organizing the cleat swap. We are hoping to make this a yearly or seasonal event.

MLS Camp: Flyers will be sent through the school and through coaches to their teams. Please promote this camp to your teams. It is a great camp for all age groups! Thank you to Holly for coordinating with MLS.

BYS Night at the Revs: Date to be determined. Flyers will be sent through school and through coaches to their teams and also through e mail. The more the merrier, please promote this to your teams also, it is a great time!

Memorial Day Parade: Monday May 28. Sean Regan offered to march with the kids. They need to be at the school for 12:30, the parade starts at 12:45.

Next Meeting: Tuesday June 19 7:30. It is important that all coaches attend to plan for next season. A lot of changes are going to need to be made as far as coaching. I will send an e mail reminder.

Berlin Youth Soccer Minutes March 7, 2007

Tony opened the meeting by discussing our mission as Berlin Youth Soccer and that is to provide an opportunity for the kids to enjoy the sport of soccer. It doesn't matter if we win or lose, as long as the kids have fun!

MLS Camp is offering a coaches clinic possibly for Thursday March 29. Holly Parmenter will confirm a date and time and let us know. It is important for all coaches and assistants to attend to learn new drills and fun ways to teach the kids soccer skills.

The season will begin April 7 and end 1^st week of June.

Look into clinics that MYSA might offer.

GU10 Dave White and Seamus O'Day to coach, only 7 players at this time

BU10 2 teams: Sean Mannion and Scott Lutz and Holly and Scott Parmenter to coach, 17 kids registered and they will divide the teams.

GU16 Judy Sykes and Chad Burroughs to coach, 15 players registered

GU14 Pat Anderson and Beth Howes to coach, only 14 players at this time

GU12 Denise Monteiro and Beth Brewer to coach, 14 players registered

BU12 Tony Kowal and Rob MacKay to coach, only 8 players registered st this time

U8 3 teams: Sean Regan and ?, Tim Guilfoyle and Chris Pendergast, Chris West and Lance Warhold as coaches. Sean Regan will coordinate with Boylston to set up a game schedule.

Rec Committee meeting on Jan. 3 discussed fields. Puma will have 2 11v11 fields and 1 8v8 field. They will practice Mon, Wed, Thurs on 11v11 and Mon, Wed, Sun on 8v8.

There will also be a 6v6 behind the school and a field for U8 behind the 8v8 field.

Sue will order shirts for new coaches

Fishing Derby is April 14, no home games to be scheduled before noon on this day.

Christy West will be organizing a cleat swap through e mail, Thank you Christy!

Another meeting will be set up for equipment and practice times, date to be determined.

Registration forms for Spring have volunteer options some ideas we came up with were:

Fundraising coordinator, field maintenance, snack shack coordinator to work with rec. committee, awards cookout coordinator. We will invited the interested candidates to the next meeting. Also looking for a vice president.

6. New Business

Futsol in Hudson: Boys U12 participated and found it to be a great program, teaches ball control, seems more effective than indoor soccer.

Indoor Teamworks: competition has been tough for all teams participating.

Referee Development: Looking for new blood as referees, we have the info for anyone interested. Must be 11 or older.

Berlin Youth Soccer October 17, 2006 Meeting Minutes

Team Season Updates: G-U12: Doing well, but not enough competition in Assabet League. Looking to move to Nashoba league for the Spring season

B-U12: Doing well

G-U10: Doing well with good competition in the Assabet League

B-U10: Doing well, evenly matched with other teams

U-8: Fall season is going well, Boylston is more evenly matched with Berlin this season than in the Spring last year.

U-6: Doing great. Some of the goals need to be repaired, Dave White to talk to Henry Pacific about repairing these. Talked about lining a U-6 field for the Spring to teach the kids to stay within the lined fields, so that when they move up to UI-8 they are familiar with this.

Season Wrap Up:

Equipment: Evy Dueck is our equipment manager. Be sure to collect all shirts from the players and return them to Evy with the equipment. It may be helpful to make a list of what you are returning, so Evy can keep track of what is coming in and what each coach will need for next season. If your team is playing indoor soccer at Teamworks, the kids may use the Berlin Youth Soccer shirts. The coaches are responsible for collecting the shirts from the players after the indoor is over. If a player is not playing indoor, their shirt must be given to the coach. All team members must be asked to play indoor if you are using the BYS shirts.

Awards: The medals were handed out to the coaches present at the meeting. There will not be an end of season event. This can be done individually with your own team.

Sign up notice for next season: When handing out medals, please hand out registration form for Spring, and let them know they need to get these in ASAP. The deadlines for the leagues are in December, so we need to know how many teams we will have playing. It looks like there will be a G-U14 and a G-U16 for Spring.

Nashoba Update: The league is asking us to replace the nets on the 8v8 filed, because the ones on there are 11v11 nets. Tony will check with Puma on this, because they use the field too.

New Business:

BYS and Berlin Baseball were approached by the Recreation Committee on behalf of the DPW who are looking to buy a new lawnmower. They are looking for $1,000 from us and $1,000 from baseball.

Referee Development: BYS is looking for referees 11 years old or older. Coaches of U12 and U14 to notify their teams and e mail the information on it.

Hudson Youth Soccer is trying to coordinate a Futsol League to play at the Hudson Portuguese Club gym. The games will be 4v4 (1 goalie, 3 fielders) and are for the U12 and U14 levels only. U-12 will play Mondays 6pm-8pm and U14 to play Wednesday 6pm-8pm beginning mid November. These will be 40 minute games and will focus on technique, skills and keeping the ball in bounds.

Recycling cleats: Christy West has kindly offered to start a program on recycling cleats that do not fit any more. More information will follow.

Next meeting will be in early December and will be MANDATORY for all coaches planning to coach in the Spring. If you want to add anything to the agenda, please let us know!

A vote was taken to see if all were in favor of reimbursing the referees for taking the Grade 8 course.

A Unanimous vote by all in attendance at this meeting.

Berlin Police Association has donated 50 new shirts for the U6 only age group.

A plague of appreciation with a picture of the players was discussed in appreciation for the end of the season.

Berlin Rescue Squad has applied for a grant in hopes of distributing some of the grant money for the purpose of training coaches, umpires and referees in basic first aid, CPR and providing first aid kits. More details will be provided upon receipt of the grant.

Becki handed out referee schedules.
Assabet starts this Saturday and plays Columbus Day weekend.
Home coach is recommended to call opposing coach just to touch base and confirm game.
Changes to game times or cancellations need to be reported to Becki and opposing team at least an hour before game time if not earlier. Becki has provided her cell phone for this purpose (978-505-148)
Becki has scheduled the referees for the Nashoba league.
An overview of reporting scores online for U10 and U12 – please remember to fill in all field or submitting scores will not be accepted.
U8 referees DO NOT keep score and are there for safety and instructional purpose.

Recreation

Puma Club has a rental agreement with the Town for full usage on Mondays and Wednesdays for a fee of $3200.00 for four (4) teams.
Peter Larssen was contracted to grade the back field
Town of Berlin Highway Department backed field the back field
Four telephone poles are in place to have catch netting placed.
Rutland Nursery has been contracted for slice seeding and fertilizing.
Maintenance program is in the works with recreation committee.
Puma will be using the fields for games on Sunday. Pat Anderson has a couple of games scheduled for a Sunday. Suggestion from Steve G. to post Puma games at the snack shack for coaches to see what Sundays maybe available for makeup games.
Field Usage request has been submitted to the Town Selectman and CC. to Recreations Committee.
School usage form has been submitted to Memorial School. Gym usage now has a fee of $50.00 (per use or per season??)
Mark Sweeney does use the gym on rainy days for practices. Usage form and fee will need to be paid and submitted by coach.

Coaches Clinic through MLS Perks

Scott has been asked to ask Holly if she wouldn't mind looking into a coach's clinic for some of our new coaches and also our existing ones. Wednesday night for the U6 to U12 levels.

Equipment Status

Mike Willis has purchased necessary replacement equipment along with first aid stock.
All equipment has been passed out with the exception of games balls for Scott P. and Pat A.
Mike has Stakes to be given to Scott P this evening; Rope for Rob MacKay and sand bags to Steve G.

Assabet Tournament

The Assabet Tournament was reported as a great time and leagues are encouraged to enter again. Great experience for the players and a great way to meet new people.
Teams are encouraged to try out the Pepperell Tournament on Columbus Day Weekend. Details can be found on the back page of the Assabet Fall Book.
